The Guinness World Records 2012 Gamers’ Edition launched at Liverpool Street Station with the world’s biggest games controller.

The world’s most successful Pokemon playing family, the first female Street Fighter champion, a man who spent 18 minutes playing Super Mario Galaxy in a wind tunnel and Ryan Hart, the man with the most international Street Fighter wins.

Ben Allen, one of the engineering students who built the world’s largest gaming controller said: “Even Guinness were surprised at how large it was when we brought it into their office.”

Gamer Sami Cetin demonstrated the kind of dedication it takes to be a champion gamer. At the celebration, he said: “With time and dedication and a lot of practice, I think anyone can reach their goals if they really want to go for it.”

Sami’s goal was to be the fastest at completing a Mario Kart circuit 1 round, and with years of practice, he certainly achieved that.

The world’s largest video game controller was wheeled out in London this week, weighing in at a hefty 18 stone (265 pounds) and costing £4,000.

Click to view larger image The 12ft long NES controller was unveiled at London’s Liverpool St station to celebrate the release of Guinness World Records Gamer’s Edition 2012 today.

The record-breaking device measures 30 times the size of a standard NES controller, says GWR, and what’s more it actually works – commuters worked together by jumping on the buttons to play NES titles.

Creator of the device, British Engineering student Ben Allen, said: “This is really a labour of love. We’re passionate about gaming and wanted to honour its most iconic device; the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) joypad.

Capcom’s not waiting for the Wii U. The Japanese developer has announced that players will be able to do all manner of cool things using a Vita as a controller for the PS3 version of Ultimate Marvel Vs Capcom 3.

Click to view larger image According to an Andriasang report, connectivity features between the PS3 and Vita versions of UMvC3 will allow players to sync up their Vita for use as a controller, adding full touch-screen fighting controls (previously announced for the Vita game) to the PS3 version.

Now, we believe buttons are better for doing all that fire-ball-spinning-bird-kick madness, so we’re more pleased that it also gives you the option to simply assign four of your favorite special moves to giant touch-screen buttons on the Vita screen for easy execution (pictured).

You will also be able to play replays on the small screen, share videos online, display your button presses and show your characters’ hit boxes with the Vita. Sweet.

As you can see via these recent screenshots, the game looks every bit as mental on the Vita as it does on the big-screen machines. Should be good.
