Ubisoft has announced a collectors edition of Ghost Recon: Future Soldier exclusive to Australia and New Zealand.

The package will include an embossed steelbook case, t-shirt and hardcover artbook with exclusive artwork, as well as an Alpha short movie DVD, lithographic prints and in-game unlockable content.

Ubisoft has not confirmed a price for the collectors edition, but JB Hi-Fi Online is listing it as a pre-order for $ 127.

Almost a year after the release of the 3DS console, Tekken 3D Prime Edition will launch in Australia on February 23rd. Tekken looks set to challenge Super Street Fighter IV: 3D Edition, with the former running at a silky 60 frames per second in both 2D and 3D.

Tekken 3D has also squeezed a mammoth selection of 40 characters to choose from, along with all new stages to do battle in. Classic Tekken stages have also been redesigned for the 3DS and the gameplay is said to be more dynamic and realistic with the functionality that the 3DS console delivers.

To make the most of the 3DS features a Tekken trading card mini-game is included for use with the Street Pass. Another added bonus included with the game is the animated movie, Tekken: Blood Vengeance. Originally released with Tekken Hybrid for PlayStation 3, the story takes place between Tekken 5 and 6, and will be presented in full 3D.

Tekken 3D Prime Edition is the first Nintendo outing for the franchise since the Game Boy Advance’s Tekken Advanced, back in 2002. Seems a lifetime ago doesn’t it?

Joe Danger is a perfectionist’s dream.

Not only do its side-on stuntman-racer-platformer levels reward you amply for the perfect playthrough, each one is so superbly crafted you won’t give up until you’ve nailed it. Perfection breeds perfection.

Not that this is quite perfect, but it’s as close as any racer can come. Playing as the titular daredevil Joe, you rip through ramp and jump-filled levels trying to grab stars, find hidden extras and avoid crashing out, all while racking up combos by pulling tricks, flips and wheelies.

Once you’re airborne, there are all manner of tricks you can pull off using the triggers and bumpers in combination with the stick. From simple ramps to springs, loops and targets, these levels are designed to let you combo from start to finish, creating an experience that’s as amusingly rewarding as it is addictively fun.

It’s long, too: not counting all the time you inevitably spend trying to earn stars to unlock more levels, it’s packed with time attacks, races and trick runs. It’s a download title longer than most disc releases.

And the best part of all? This former PlayStation 3-exclusive has been souped up with even more laboratory-themed levels and neatly refined gameplay. Factor in the great level creator and it’s immense value, as well as being one of the most enjoyable games on XBLA.

There’s a sweet irony to the idea of two games about conflict resolving a rivalry. Street Fighter man Yoshinori Ono and Tekken sensei Katsuhiro Harada recently joined forces for Other Formats brawler Street Fighter X Tekken, but the latter’s 3DS debut is just as likely to benefit from the collaboration.

“He didn’t really give us any technical advice on how to develop for the platform,” says Harada of his best buddy, whose SFIV landed on 3DS last year, “but he did give us some advice about his impressions of the hardware, so that was a reference that helped out. With that in mind Iguess it is advantageous for us to be releasing after SSFIV.”

Indeed, the second Tekken game on a Ninty console trumps Ono’s launch title by running at a smoother-than-a-greased-ferret 60fps, even with the 3D slider all the way up – a fact trumpeted in Prime’s brilliantly daft trailer. It has a hefty roster of 40 characters, mostly taken from Tekken 6, though the 3DS game has eight extra stages to boot.

There are 26 Tag Challenge missions, too, and if the cart wasn’t already groaning under the weight of all that content, Namco have thrown in a 3D-ised version of CGI film Tekken: Blood Vengeance for nowt. “It’s a really complete package,” Harada boasts. He would say that, of course, but it’s hard not to agree.

Better still, it’s likely to be even friendlier to newcomers than Super Street Fighter IV, with fully customisable touch-panel controls for combos and the like.”You don’t just touch the screen to do a command, but can add different sets that you can customise by, for example, pushing the left button or right button, and then once you’re holding it you push one of the panels to select the move that you want to do,” Harada (sort-of) explains. It’ll make more sense when we playthe finished game, we’re sure. Well, we think we’re sure.

As far as the looks go, it’s as close to Tekken 6 as you could reasonably expect, and it remains the only beat-’em-up series in which you can lay the smack down on a giant panda, for which it deserves our eternal respect. If ever an animal deserved a good slapping it’s those surly, sluggish bamboo munchers.

So can Harada triumph in the 3DS battle of the brawlers, or will the chirpy Ono have the last laugh? With a tentative February release date, it shouldn’t be long before a victor is declared.

Mojang has reworked its plans to update Minecraft: Pocket Edition, focusing on content requested in fan complaints on the miniaturised offering.

“We had an initial plan of making Minecraft – Pocket Edition more like Minecraft Creative. But alas we were wrong. We have read tons of comments and feedback and it seems like we made a huge mistake. You wanted monsters, resources, animals and more different blocks,” admits the developer on its official blog.

“So we have been reorganizing, rewritten and changed the whole plan for Minecraft – Pocket Edition,” says the dev, confirming that they “have planned to submit and update by February the 8th”.

As well as some bug fixes, the update promises plenty of changes. “In the background a lot of stuff has changed to support the survival aspects of the game. You will see some neat looking animals and new blocks,” explains Mojang.

“Crafting won’t be in this update since we need to redesign the GUI for it and it will need some iteration and thinking. But the great part is that the foundation for survival will be mostly done and we can throw out much more fun updates.”
